of Reconciliation & ASM
Sometimes wishful thinking does come true-if u wish hard enough. It is just a few hours after blogging my previous post and here I am, back home, with Ms Soo munling apologising to me in her most sincere tone, patting me on the shoulder and saying ‘I really dunno wat’s wrong with me today’
Haha. Then I replied,’ wake up forget already lo. Don’t worry I won’t destroy ur bday present just bcoz of that.’
Then being the ‘angel’ (refer to previous post), she mimicked some bimbo and said,’ oh no I can’t survive without a bday present, her arms flailing and all.
So, I wish to thank sara dear and brandon for being the 1st to comfort me. To chee wei and minghong, for their concern. To Mr Lame, though his lag time was so long!! haha. Not to mention, Mr Andrew and jing tien who ‘talked’ to me today.
So back to my tale of my ‘cute’ parents, the condo heroes- yong guo and siu long lui (there are the characters penned by the very famous author, Jin Yong. They work together to ‘fight the evil’.) Not that my parents saved the world today, but they two went to settle something in a very ‘compatible’ manner (refer to previous post, I did mention)-ASM, as in Amanah Saham Malaysia.
I am sure most of you who are in msia, know what the hoo-ha is all about. This is a government bond that we can purchase, and the interest is 6.something % per year; compared to fixed reposit rate of 3.something% *eyes widened* In 2000, the government 1st issued ASM and at that time, economy was really down and a lot of people didn’t really trust the government. So it was only sold off in 3 days.
Note, for your info, if you don’t trust the government and think that they may not be able to cover the loss, well then you should think again. If the government ends up in bankruptcy, there won’t even be Malaysia anymore. The policy CONTROLS everything, even the private sectors, ok? Can’t cover loss? Simple-raise the tax or the petrol price.
So this time round, it seemed that this idea dawned on most people. My parents went to bank bumiputera at 10am and got the number 101. The bank opens at 9.30am. WOW! Unfortunately they had to go to another bank to withdraw cash as they don’t accept banker’s cheque this time round. (This is a conspiracy-so that those of us who don’t save in banks like maybank, rhb and bank bumiputera, don’t get this fair share of yummy cake. By the way, the cake is meant for ‘the other’ people anyway=P ) So after withdrawing the cash, my parents, who are definitely NOT YOUNG, have to undergo this tremendously high systolic and diastolic blood pressure. I am so glad that none of them have hypertension, though dad is at the borderline. Haha. Seriously-mum was worried about dad, and vice versa. So this cute couple think that because they have TWO people in action, they should be able to purchase. FAT CHANCE. At 11.30 am ASM was sold out in the WHOLE ENTIRE COUNTRY.
My dad was relating his experience in bank bumiputera to us (that time mum went off a while to send sis to school). Do you know that ZERO deal was performed at that branch?(in centrepoint-so DUN go there) yeah, ZERO. My dad went off for food and when he returned, the numbered remained 1. My dad added that the gentleman who got number 1 is in his fifties, and he is one patient man. He doesn’t even question those tellers/ officers (‘other people’) about their inefficiency and speed. My dad, being the MP of the people there =P (daddy u rock!), went forward and ‘taruh’ them, ‘saya sudah habis makan nombor pun tak jalan. Orang di kampung pun sudah beli. Sini, satu ‘deal’ pun tak ada’ .
(my uncle in perak was queuing, though he didn’t manage to get ASM, there were 77 deals at that branch) By the way, my uncle said that the person who got number 78 was making a big fuss at the bank, questioning the officers and all. Oh well, I DUN blame him, I may act like that too, if that happens to me. I jokingly added that the man may end up buying 4D (after adding a few numbers to 78)- you know, in kampung, sports toto and 4D are the culture of the people. Someone meets with an accident? ‘what’s the car plate?’ oh someone is getting married, ‘which day (DATE) is it?’ ‘what’s the car plate of the bridegroom’s car?” well, you all get the picture now. These show that there are other people who are so SENSITIVE to numbers besides yee ket and ming hong. Haha. =P
Moral of the story, when u think u are early, there are ALWAYS people out there who are earlier than you. My MP dad seized this chance to lecture us about ‘the importance of waking up EARLY and leaving the house early to settle thing.’
