Warning: Do NOT let this post pull your attention away from my 'Post Torture Therapy'.
- Contact me
- I give you the number of the restaurant. (Have to pre-order)
- Head down to a restaurant in Banting, which takes an hour and a half from KL.
- Indulge yourself in their popular ‘Beggar’s Chicken’ (Jian4 Hua4 Ji1), its recipe has been passed down from the owner’s grandfather. They still preserve the traditional recipe of cooking it with charcoal.
For the sake of those who are a noob in Chinese culture, Beggar’s chicken is so called because a long long time ago, there was a beggar who cooked a chicken by adding whatever ingredients he could find, then wrapping the chicken in earth and started a fire to cook it. Basically, it was spontaneous. However, the smell was so good that it even stopped the Emperor who was passing by. After tasting it, the Emperor liked it a lot and enquired, ‘what is the name of this wonderful dish?’ Ashamed to tell him that it is merely beggar’s chicken, the beggar told him, ‘Your Majesty, it is called Fu4 Gui4 Ji1.’ (Chicken of Wealth) Thus, the same dish has two EXTREME name, one which speaks of poverty and another of wealth.
This reminds me of diamond (a girl’s best friend =) and its allotrope, carbon. Both are element of C, but because of its arrangement, their values are like heaven and earth.
On another note, my mother received this voucher worth of RM YYY to dine at Tai Chee Hin, a Chinese restaurant in a hotel. (can’t remember the name, my sis had her practical piano exams there).
CHUN food, wait for me, I am coming!!!
